What is per-ignition????

What is per-ignition???? Pre-ignition:         Is the ignition of the homogeneous mixture in the cylinder, before the timed ignition spark occurs, caused by the local overheating of the combustible mixture? For premature ignition of any local hot-spot to occur in advance of the timed spark on the combustion stroke it must attain a minimum temperature of something like 700-800 degree centigrade. ·          Pre-ignition is initiated by some overheated projecting part such as the sparking plug electrodes, exhaust valve head , metal corners in the combustion chamber, carbon deposits or protruding cylinder head gasket rim ·          However, pre-ignition is also caused by persistent detonating pressure shock waves scoring away the stagnant gases which normally protect the combustion chamber walls. The resulting increased heat flow through the walls raises t...

How Automobiles Are classified?

google How to classify Automobiles? Automobile is a self propelled vehicle driven by an internal combustion engine and is used for transportation of passengers and goods on ground. Examples: Bus, car, jeep, truck, tractor, scooter, motor cycle. CLASSIFICATION OF AUTOMOBILES:      Automobiles can be classified with different regards which are as under:   1. Purpose (i) Passenger carriers (ii) Goods carriers 2. Fuel used: (i) Petrol vehicle (ii) Diesel vehicle (iii) Gas vehicle (iv) Electric (v) Steam 3. Capacity 1. HTV (HEAVY TRANSPORT VEHICLES) 2. LTV (LIGHT MOTOR VEHICLE) 3. LMV (LIGHT MOTOR VEHICLE) 4. Medium vehicle 4. Construction: 1. Single unit vehicle 2. Articulated vehicle and tractors 5. Drive: 1. Left hand drive 2. Right hand drive 3. Fluid drive 6. Wheel and axle: 1. Two wheeler 2. Three wheeler 3. Four wheeler (4x2) and (4x4) 4. Six wheeler (6x2) and (6x4) 7. Suspension system: 1. Conven...

Comparison Between a Petrol Engine and A Diesel Engine:

Comparison Between a Petrol Engine and A Diesel Engine: In this post the information is purely based on exam point of view for the students struggling for the answer for the above topic Petrol engine: 1 Air petrol mixture is sucked in the engine cylinder during suction stroke. 2 Spark-plug is used. 3 Power is produced by spark ignition. 4 Thermal efficiency up to 25% 5 Occupies less space. 6   More running cost. 7   Light in weight. 8 Fuel costlier. 9 Petrol being volatile is dangerous. 1 Pre ignition possible. 1 Works on otto cycle. 1 Less dependable. 1 Used in cars and motor cycles. Diesel engine:   Only air is sucked during suction stroke.     Employs an injector. 3 Power is produced by compression ignition. 4 Thermal efficiency up to 40%. 5 Occupies more space. 6 Less running cost.   Heavy in weight. 8 Fuel cheaper. 9 Diesel is non dangerous as it is non volatile. 1 Pre ignition not...

Machining process

Image
Machining process: Machining is the process of cold working the metals into different shapes by using different types of machine tools. This process is mainly used to bring the metal objects produced by means of different fabrication techniques to final dimensions. Machining is accomplished with the use of machines known as machine tools. For production of variety of machined surfaces different types of machine tools have been developed. The kind of surface produced depends upon the shape of cutting, the path of the tool as it passes through the material or both. Depending on them metal cutting processes are called either turning of planning or boring or other operations performed by machine tools like lathe, shaper, planer, drill, miller, grinder etc. Classification of machining processes: Machining process are material removing operations in which the desired shape and surface finish on the finished product are obtained by removing surplus material. 1. Met...
