What is detonation?

What is detonation? Detonation : At present the amount of power that can be developed in the cylinder of a petrol engine is fixed by the liability of a fuel to detonate, just before the flame has completed its course across the combustion   chamber and remaining unburnt charge fires throughout its mass spontaneously without external assistance. The result is a tremendously rapid and increase in pressure which sets up pressure waves that hit the cylinder walls with such violence that the walls emit a sound like a ping. It is the ping that   manifests detonation. Thus a very sudden rise of pressure during combustion accompanied by metallic hammer like sound is called detonation. The region in which detonation occurs is farthest removed from the sparking plug , and is named the detonation zone and even with severe detonation this zone is rarely more than one quarter the clearance volume.

What is per-ignition????

What is per-ignition???? Pre-ignition:         Is the ignition of the homogeneous mixture in the cylinder, before the timed ignition spark occurs, caused by the local overheating of the combustible mixture? For premature ignition of any local hot-spot to occur in advance of the timed spark on the combustion stroke it must attain a minimum temperature of something like 700-800 degree centigrade. ·          Pre-ignition is initiated by some overheated projecting part such as the sparking plug electrodes, exhaust valve head , metal corners in the combustion chamber, carbon deposits or protruding cylinder head gasket rim ·          However, pre-ignition is also caused by persistent detonating pressure shock waves scoring away the stagnant gases which normally protect the combustion chamber walls. Resistance during vehicle moving condition

Resistance during vehicle moving condition: The moving vehicle has to overcome the following resistances: 1.     Air or wind resistance, 2.     Gradient resistance, and 3.     Rolling resistance. Air resistance Is the aerodynamic drag experienced by the vehicle while moving and depends upon the frontal area of the vehicle speed and the speed of the vehicle. Gradient resistance Depends u[on the weight of the vehicle and the steepness or the grade of the road. It is independent of the speed of the vehicle. Rolling resistance Is the resistance to rolling occurring due to the deformation of road and tyre and the losses occurring due to the dissipation of energy in the tyre.                                 Centrifugal force Why I’m suddenly jumped to force you may get confused .so don’t get into anything my next topic is centrifugal clutch so that the reason I’m telling about this force ok now we see   what its?? CLUTCH Clutch is a mechanical device it’s one the major part in transmission power system .it provides for the transmission of power from one component to another component, its placed in between the flywheel and gear box .Next to the flywheel and before to the gear box transmit power during engage condition main purpose of the clutch is control the amount of motion whenever it needs, Mechanism of clutch It’s the simplest mechanism connect and disconnect two rotating shafts (drive shafts or line shaft).One shaft attached to motor or engine which provides power its input shaft (driving member)and the other shaft gear box etc.(the driven member)provides output power of work. Flywheel

Flywheel The flywheel is a disk or wheel attached to the crank, forming an inertial mass that stores rotational energy. In engines with only a single cylinder the flywheel is essential to carry energy over the power stroke into a subsequent compression stroke.   Flywheel mostly present in reciprocating engines to smooth out the power delivery over each rotation of the crank and in most automotive engines also mounts a gear ring for a starter. The rotational inertia of the flywheel also allows a much slower minimum unloaded speed and also improves the smoothness at idle .the flywheel may also perform a part of the balancing of the system and so by itself be out of balance although most engines will use a neutral balance for the fly wheel ,enabling it to be balance in a separate operation. CRANKCASE

The crank shaft subjected to the torsional and bending stresses and is supported on the crankcase structure on large bearing .These crankshaft bearings are known as main bearings. The number of bearings varies depending on the dynamic load on it. For example a four-cylinder engine crank case may have two, three or five bearings. Connecting Rod
