Piston located inside the engine cylinder, it the major part of the engine  piston movement was reciprocating  motion it converts the pressure into a rotating motion it present in all type of engines external combustion engine,external combustion engine,steam engine etc… piston may be one or more according to engine type and size of the engine purpose of the piston was completing all the strokes of the engine in efficient manner example there are many types of strokes like 2 stroke ,4 stroke 6 stroke etc….

How Piston Works?

Piston located in the combustion chamber when the combustion take place it happens above the piston head only during the combustion  the gases got expand pushing the piston to the bottom from the head  the power of pushing going to the shaft which the piston is connected over it the shaft is called crankshaft  its main work was converting reciprocating motion into rotary motion ,after reaching the bottom the piston wants to regain its original position for that the device which is used as Flywheel it stores the energy and give whenever piston required

Piston Ring are the major part in the piston 3 rings are located init named as oilring and another 2 rings are called piston rings

Material

Pistons are made casting of aluminium alloys it gives better strength and fatique life ,early pistons were are made by cast iron

Capacity of piston are  generally measured by cc (cubic centimeter). Piston only decide the size and capacity of the engine cylinder also
