CRANKCASE

http://en.wikipedia.org CRANKCASE         The main body of the engine to which the cylinder are attached and which contains the crankshaft and crankshaft bearings is called crankcase. This members also holds other parts in alignment and resists the explosion and intertia forces. It also protects the parts from dirt etc. In the crankcase only the engine oil are stored in self lubricate syst em the crankcase play an important role the scoop used for splashing to the engive wall are taking oil from the crankcase only so I play a majore role in lubrication system      Crankcase forming an engine block ,crankcase  are the basic engine structural component   crankcase often has an opening in the bottom to which an oil pan is attached a gasketed bolted joint. Material used for crankcase  Material which is used for making crankcase are engine block mostly cast aluminium crankcase are made via sand casting ...

CRANKSHAFT

CRANKSHAFT In my all post I’m telling that this the major part you definitely get bored of this now also I’m going to say the same line crankshaft another major part in the engine but in this post bit I’m going to some technical words so you can understand better the mechanism and parts description .Crankshaft part which converts the reciprocating motion of the piston into rotary motion .This motion of the piston is transmitted to the crank by the connecting rod. The crank shaft subjected to the torsional and bending stresses and is supported on the crankcase structure on large bearing .These crankshaft bearings are known as main bearings. The number of bearings varies depending on the dynamic load on it. For example a four-cylinder engine crank case may have two, three or five bearings. Parts in crankshaft Crankshaft contains many parts they are   crankpins, crank arms, crank journals, and driving ends the crankshaft attached to the fly wheel to reduce the pulsation char...

Connecting Rod

Connecting Rod Connecting rod in name itself you can understand it connect something that something is nothing but it connects the piston and the crankshaft and also its called as Conrod .Main purpose of the connecting rod was converting the reciprocating motion into rotary motion getting reciprocating motion from the piston and giving rotary motion to the crankshaft .Its is rigid ,it may transmit either push and pull i.e. pushing and pulling done on the piston Construction Major parts in the connecting rod is big eye end and small eye end, small end attaches to the the piston pin or gudgeon pin, the big end connected with the crankshaft ,the between the big end and crankshaft the bearings are placed Material used Connecting rod is the back bone for the engine if it breaks engine doesn’t work it stops suddenly   so connecting rod has to be rigid for that reason the material has to be chosen mostly connecting rod made by steel only but now a days its made by T6-2024 and ...

Piston Ring

Piston Ring Piston rings are the majore parts in the piston it provide a dynamic seals for the piston, seal suppresses the leakage of   lubricants from the tribo system and also   provide   protection and cleanliness 3 piston rings are mounted on the piston Types of rings In the piston there are two kinds of rings mounted on the piston they are 1.        Oil ring 2.        Compression ring Compression Ring Compression ring act as a gas seal between the piston and the cylinder liner wall, preventing combustion gases from trailing down to the crankcase, the ring have certain pre-tension i.e. they have large free diameter than the cylinder liner, which assists the ring in conforming to the liner. Oil Ring Some mechanism    needed to distribute the oil evenly onto the liner ,The number of oil control rings in in ring pack is 1 or 2.Normally a single oil control ring is sufficient but o...

Engine piston

Engine Piston Piston located inside the engine cylinder, it the major part of the engine   piston movement was reciprocating   motion it converts the pressure into a rotating motion it present in all type of engines external combustion engine, external combustion engine, steam engine etc… piston may be one or more according to engine type and size of the engine purpose of the piston was completing all the strokes of the engine in efficient manner example there are many types of strokes like 2 stroke ,4 stroke 6 stroke etc…. How Piston Works? Piston located in the combustion chamber when the combustion take place it happens above the piston head only during the combustion   the gases got expand pushing the piston to the bottom from the head   the power of pushing going to the shaft which the piston is connected over it the shaft is called crankshaft   its main work was converting reciprocating motion into rotary motion ,after reaching the bottom the ...

ENGINE

ENGINE An engine it’s a device which used to convert energy into mechanical motion ,first engine invented on 1712 it a steam engine power of steam used to produce mechanical work its named as newcomen steam engine which used to pump water from the mines ,for this reason only engine was invented in 18 Th century after asper the requirement engine evolved for different requirements   different types of engines are originated. ENGINE CLASSIFICATION Engines are classified according to different aspects 1.        According to types of combustion 2.        Types of stroke 3.        Types of fuel 4.        Types of piston arrangement According to types of combustion There are two types of combustion system 1.        Internal combustion (IC) Engine 2.        External combustion Engine I...

Internal Combustion Engine

Image
The  internal combustion engine  is an  engine  in which the  combustion  of a  fuel  (normally a  fossil fuel ) occurs with an oxidizer (usually air) in a  combustion chamber  that is an integral part of the working fluid flow circuit. In an internal combustion engine (ICE) the expansion of the high- temperature  and high- pressure  gases produced by combustion apply direct  force  to some component of the engine. The force is applied typically to  pistons ,  turbine blades , or a  nozzle . This force moves the component over a distance, transforming chemical energy into useful mechanical  energy . The first commercially successful internal combustion engine was created by  Étienne Lenoir . [1] The term  internal combustion engine  usually refers to an engine in which combustion is intermittent, such as the more familiar  four-stroke  and  two-stroke  p...
