What are the factors decreasing self esteem?

Thinking that you're a victim of the universe. Not accepting that good and bad things happen naturally and taking things that happens to you personally. Blaming someone else for your misfortune. EPIC negative thinking Not having the insight that specific actions bring about specific reactions so that when you take highly focused actions, you can change any aspect of your life. Asking  Why is this happening to me?  Instead of  What the fuck I'm I going to do about this? Not forgiving yourself for your petty mistakes. Not loving yourself like you should. Not having enough empathy and compassion for others. Having a lot of friends with low self esteem. Doing or working at a job you hate immensely. Not learning from your mistakes and improving on them which just makes life more miserable. Not doing the things your heart cries to do because you want to appear cool and please others. Keeping quiet when others offend you and suffering silently. Not doing your be...

What is the easiest way to catch a liar?

If you are good at analysis, or if you got great logic, and you do not easily forget situations and the words pronounced by the person who lied to you, you can catch a liar easily. One thing more, the advent of high technology cameras, include CCTV's, that is one great proof. You can never miss. But why you need to catch a lying person? If that person is a hopeless liar, it would be easy to catch him her. But what if the person is more intelligent than you are? Especially with men, they will not tell you truth of extra- marital cases. Even if you feel by your gut that he is lying, he will not accept it when confronted with. So, i guess you should let yourself live better by forgetting that someone is lying. The wish to catch a liar means you believed you have control over the person's life. That is actually one big reason why the person lied. He wanted freedom from the person controlling him her. Let the person to him her self. Let him lie for all you care. Only if you c...

How do I get rid of this laziness and procrastination?

So, we are aware that the need to procrastinate is an evolutionary hang-up. Before we  were  humans we had a part of the brain that was designed to keep us safe. It was also there to make sure we didn’t get too stressed as we know that’s not always a good thing. For each of us, this part of the brain reacts in different ways. I introduced Dave and if you missed him, here he is: I also mentioned the  Chimp Paradox . This theory suggests that the brain has a chimp that likes to over-react for the most part, to seek the easy way out and sometimes to smash thing up when it doesn’t get its own way. I suggest that at times, our brain can give us both a sloth and a chimp and to varying degrees. They can be a hindrance or a help and we shouldn’t try to deny their presence within us. That will only make them angry. I also touched upon my own feelings of guilt every time I am looking at Twitter instead of doing important work. James Clear  has described thi...

How do you know if you are really intelligent?

People around you makes sure you know. either they say so or you feel that most people are slow. Let me take an example (a humblebrag) When i was in middle school a certain quiz-game which i can't remember the name of became popular. But you could have a minimum of two turns to win and a maximum of twenty-five. I rarely used more than two turns. I usually sat there like some oracle just answering they're questions. I was sitting answering for maybe six games and the questions were either science, art, history, sports or tv-shows. It came to the point where one guy actually said: “ You could actually be the next Einstein if you weren't so lazy" Another anecdote is that when i decided to apply for culinary school, my teachers were shocked. Thats atleast what my math teacher said. She justified this by saying “You have gone to this school for three years, you spent classes either sleeping or watching netflix. You haven't openeded the books and the lowest grad...

Why do some people dislike Donald Trump?

Consider his behavior! I’m trying to find something I can like about this man, but he’s not helping. He is clearly a man in a wrong job with a lot of stress. Look at this sequence of events: He goes to G7 meeting, arrives late, laments that his gang member Putin was dissed and he ain’t taking this. Out of left field, he stimulates himself into a public meltdown and a fake outrage. He insults his only friends he will surely need in the future. He calls the host “weak” ( I assume he thinks that losing his mind in public is a sign of being “strong”). He finally starts crying about not getting any respect and support. I’m embarking on a very important venture with Kim. And I’m doing it for you, kids!” He then tweets to the world “Haters and Losers”. This is what he does to FRIENDS. THE ENEMY: The same day, he meets the man he recently called “Rocket Man”. He won’t keep his hands off him and calls him a friend, “a nice person”. He states to the man who kills, “Your people love yo...

What type of people should I not trust in life?

Class colleagues who won’t allow you to copy their homework Drivers coming from the opposite direction who don’t ‘flash’ to warn you that there is a police car waiting 1 km away People who don’t admit an edge ball in table tennis, that the ball fell on the line in tennis or that the ball was out of bounds in a friendly basketball match Chess players trying to flag you in rook vs rook situation Politicans Successful ‘enterpreneurs’ offering you all the life advice you need People who don’t bother to help you when you ask for their help People who use “my friend” in sentences only 5 minutes after you have met them People who keep talking and never bother to listen

What are your top 10 psychology tricks?

There are so many I can think of right now but these are the ones that will help you make the right choices in your life. Can’t say for everyone but they do help me with the weeds in my life. Here it goes: People always remember the first and the last thing happen to them and the middle part gets vanished. I use this trick when I have some interview or someone I want to impress. I always schedule my interviews in the beginning of the day or at the end to get the edge on other candidates and of course to leave the impression. And when it comes to people I love to meet people all the time but I meet my favorite ones at night! A Firm handshake goes a long long way. I strongly believe in handshakes. They can literally give away your personality. Even if you got a hold of your nerves and went through the event but when it will come to handshakes, they will betray you and your nerves. People’s feet! They are a mirror into their minds I literally can tell if a pers...

What psychological tricks do retailers use to get people to spend more money?

An old couple used to live close to our home during my childhood. They used to make their living on their own by selling logs. They were famous in our area and were in good terms with all the customers. They were very knack at handling the customers. I closely observed and found a trick they were playing. Customer : I want this log. How much is it ? Old Man  : It’s 160 rupees. Customer : Can you give it for 140 rupees ? Old Man : No, I can’t. It’s 160 rupees. We hardly get a profit of 10 Rs. selling a log. Customer : I come here regularly. Please give me some discount. Now the actual trick begins. The old woman enters the scene. She purposefully stayed away all this time. Old Woman : What’s up? Old Man : This customer wants to buy this log. I told him it costs 160 rupees and he is asking for 140 rupees. Old Woman : There is no use of you. You don’t remember the things. The price of the logs on this side is 180 not 160. I told you 100s of times. It’s tough to li...

What is a fun psychological trick to try on someone?

Look people in the eye when you pass them in the street. I read about this fun little game in  The 4-Hour Workweek  as an exercise to build confidence. Here’s how it works: Establish eye contact with people as you’re about to cross paths. Hold it as long as you can. This achieves two things: You’ll look more confident to others.  “Whoa! I’m getting noticed! Why does he/she look at me? What black magic is this?” You’ll become more confident the longer you play, for one simple reason:  99.9% of people will look away first. I sometimes play this for 10, 15 minutes at a time and not a single person “wins” around against me - by the time we pass by they look away. It’s a great way to make you feel  really  good about yourself,  really  fast. Trust me, this is hilarious. Especially when you look at people like  this

What are some psychological facts that people don't know?

“ If a  donkey that is equally hungry and thirsty placed precisely midway between a stack of hay and a pail of water, it will die of hunger and thirst as it cannot make a decision about which way to go as both hay and water are at equal distance apart .” This is known as  Buridan's ass. Same thing happens if you put it between 2 stacks of hay. Human application Pretty much avoided. Let's take an example. You go to restaurant and see two of your favourite dishes on menu. Which to choose? We end up choosing one thing or other. Why? You suddenly smell one dish being cooked and choose that. You see one dish being ordered by the guy next to your table. You hear a song being played which had some memory with one of those dishes. But, if you ever get stuck. Don't think much. Toss a coin, ask the waiter. I was stuck on whether to buy PC or Laptop. Dead stuck. My mind was short-circuiting with pros and cons. What to do? My brother came from school, ...

What are some psychological facts that people don't know?

After reading the answers with almost similar content, here's my observation with different perspective. So, lets get started. Don't express your love. Out for shopping, you loved a dress and you are all excited; “  I love this dress, it's so pretty”. Now, the shopkeeper too know that and will put any price, because he/ she knows you'll pay that price. P.s- always bargain, or else, observe your mom. First impression a.k.a body language . Always have an  alpha  body language. Not to mention, hands out of your pocket. Want people to listen you, be quiet. The less you talk, the more weighted your words will be for others. Don't trust me, go try it out. Wanna sound smart, throw figures. “76% people deviate from their resolution by the end of 2 months”. “People deviate from their resolution by the end of 2 months”. You be the judge here. Wanna be a good leader, call name. If you want to assign a work, call people by their name. T...
